Opening Living School of the Amazon (EVA)

March 2023

The Living School of the Amazon commenced its first pilot cohort, welcoming 35 students from 23 indigenous organizations, representing 11 First Nations. This diverse group brings together indigenous wisdom and knowledge, co-creating a powerful platform for collaboration and cultural exchange. The Living School of the Amazon has made significant strides in its mission to foster indigenous leadership, promote biodiversity conservation, and foster sustainable and peaceful dialogue between nations as community practices.

Living Amazon Immersion Allyship Journey

February 2023

During our February trip, we met up with the team of the Living School of the Amazon just one month before it's opening before taking off into Sapára territories. One of our allies wrote: "It has certainly been the most impactful trip in my life so far - and I am lucky to say I am far travelled. My expectations have been exceeded by far. It is a life-changing and intense experience that still keeps me in a state of feeling honored and humbled. The possibility to live as a part of a strong ecosystem like the Amazon rainforest, together with the indigenous people, experience the reality of nature in its purest way and get a sense of the spirit of the forest is just outstanding."

Ecuadorian Amazon

August 2022

In honor of our partnerships related to the Living School of the Amazon, our co-founders Nicole Heimann & Han Bullens travelled with the co-founders of the Pachamama Alliance Bill Twist, Lynne Twist and John Perkins, and the amazing Sara Vetter, with Belén Paez from Pachamama Ecuador, Atossa Soltani from Sacred Headwaters and met with several indigenous leaders.

Ecuadorian Amazon

February 2022

Here you find pictures of Nicole and Han Bullens - Heimann’s very first visit to the Ecuadorian Amazon in February 2022. It was a very humbling and life-transforming experience. During this trip, Han had a vision in his dreams of opening up an Institute of the Amazon upon his 80th birthday. Upon sharing his dream with Manari Ushigua, the political and spiritual leader of the Sapára nation, Manari shared with us that others had started dreaming this vision 3 years ago. He aligned us through our shared vision with the leaders of the Sacred Headwaters Initiative, who invited us to become a co-founder of the Living School of the Amazon.
